Hakop Gochumyan, an Armenian citizen, has been sentenced to 10 years in prison and is currently incarcerated in Evin Prison on charges of “engaging in deviant educational and propaganda activities contrary to the sacred law of Islam through membership and direction of a Christian missionary network in the country.”

Hakop Gochumyan, 35, was arrested in August 2023 along with his wife and has been in detention ever since.

Among the accusations against Hakop Gochumyan were possessing seven copies of the Bible in Persian at his home, and attending Christian homes and Armenian-speaking churches on two occasions. Mr. Gochumyan explained that he brought the books as gifts at the request of his Armenian friends, as it is easier for them to read the Bible in Persian than in Armenian. These explanations were not accepted by the court and the judicial authorities of the government.

Father God, Please provide your continuing love, protection, and defense for Hakop. We who are not imprisoned and are able to freely and openly have a relationship with God, will never even begin to know what precious Hakop and his precious family are going through, especially at this time of what is going on in Iran right now and the conditions at the prison. My heart is so heavenly burdened for Hakop, and I pray that God's spiritual hedge of protection surrounds Hakop. Oh Lord, please let this man's faith and service in you not waiver, and please be his fortress and protect him from illness and any physical and/or mental harm. Please God, fortify and strengthen Hakop each day with your voice and your spirit! Please Father God, pour out your grace and mercy. I'm asking you God, in Jesus' Name, to free Hakop immediately.
