Mansour Mardani-Kharaji
It has been
since the unjust imprisonment of Mansour Mardani-Kharaji
Mansour and his brother Mahmoud were arrested at a Christmas gathering in 2021 and later sentenced to four years in prison on “propaganda” charges related to their involvement in a house-church.
The two brothers began serving their sentences ahead of Christmas 2025 and are in Isfahan’s Dastgerd Prison.
They also face two years’ exile from their home province of Isfahan following their release, and are banned from membership of any groups for five years.
Additionally, they were fined the equivalent of around $1,500 each.
The brothers were convicted under the amended Article 500 of the penal code, which criminalises “deviant propaganda activities contrary to the holy religion of Islam”.
The brothers remained missing for over a month after their initial arrest, which was carried out by plainclothes intelligence agents, who showed no warrant nor explained which security force they represented, when they raided the gathering on 22 December 2021 in Fooladshahr, a small city just outside Isfahan.
Their family members, not knowing which agency had been responsible for the arrest, were threatened and mocked by the officials they had spoken to, as they anxiously sought information about them.
